Apple and iOS Devices

Mobile Phone Deals: What's the Difference Between Android and Apple's IOS Operating Systems?

more mobile devices featuring Google's Android Operating System (OS) were sold than those featuring Apple's iOS. This is because Android is Open Source software and open to anyone to use, whereas iOS is closed, featuring only on Apple devices. So what is the difference between Android and Apple's iOS Operating Systems in Iphone?

What Google is trying to achieve with Android is a homogeneous platform that can be used on all handsets and is free for manufacturers to adopt and run. The Android Operating System is open for use on all handsets from Samsung to HTC. It's customisable and tailored to suit the needs of manufacturers. When you upgrade your handset to another that supports the Android Operating System, it will reduce the issues of being locked-in, so all your files and data can be transferred over from your previous handset easily.

Apple's Operating System, known as iOS, on the other hand, locks you into their operating system and support systems; it cannot be transferred to be used on devices other than those manufactured by Apple. This means that fewer devices use Apple, but also that they retain their users better than manufacturers that use Android.

When it comes to the difference in the apps that are available from each store, The Android Marketplace vs The Apple App Store, it's difficult to determine a "winner", because it depends largely on what you'd expect from an app. Apple review all of the apps before they're available to be downloaded, creating a choice of good quality applications for Apple App Store users. This also quality control maintains standards among apps, reducing concerns of viruses or malware in the app.

In contrast, Apps on the Android Marketplace can be loaded regardless of the content which has lead to a much, much wider choice in applications that are available, but most certainly at the cost of quality control. In fact a growing concern with the Android Marketplace is the number of viruses that its apps are spreading.

Android's vast availability on all handsets is undoubtedly key to its successful growth; however, this growth could quickly become a barrier to its own victory. The launch of Android 4 in October 2011, known as Ice Cream Sandwich, has arrived on the market, however devices that the platform is available on are few and far between, with most continuing to feature the previous release called Gingerbread.

Apple may lock users into their operating system however in the long term their quality may lead them to triumph over Android's fast growth and desire for quantity.

Best Operating System for Portable Devices

An operating system is the base software of a machine which provides the users with all the basic utilities that are frequently used. In this article, apart from computers and other machines, we will talk about smartphones operating systems. The best three operating systems are:-

1- IOS (For Apple manufactured Devices)

2- Android (Open Source)

3-Windows (For windows phones)

Out of these three, android and IOS are common. But now the question arises that which one is the best. IOS and android, both are amazing in their respective fields but there must be only one winner. IOS devices are comparatively expensive than android phones. This is a major issue. IOS users can enjoy more apps and games than android device users (though android also contains tons of apps and games). IOS devices are auto manageable in a sense that you don't have to make directories to separate or manage your videos and music.

On the other hand, you have to manually manage android media i.e videos and music. One big disadvantage of IOS devices is that they don't support flash. That means we are deprived from all the videos embedded as flash. An advantage of android is that they can be flashed and custom designed roms can be installed on them. IOS devices have limited storage but in android, one can buy a cheap SD card and increase his device storage. IOS devices have much precise and clear camera than android. The unit mp (megapixel) is not the same for android and IOS devices. For example, an IOS device having 8mp camera can take much high resolution and clear, well detailed images than an android device having 8mp camera. Privacy is a big factor in which android is a clear winner.

That is if we want some videos to be personal and not to be seen by others than we can hide it in some root folder. Whereas in case of IOS, no matter where we hide our video, it will must be displayed in the videos menu. Both android and IOS operating systems have almost same graphics. Another major disadvantage of IOS is lack of home screen. Homescreen is a big factor to attract a user towards a particular operating system. But in case of IOS when you slide and unlock you will only see an old fashioned menu. After analyzing all these facts, IOS is the most recommended operating system if we are not concerned about cost and flash support.
